A pushbutton is a simple switch mechanism for controlling some aspect of a machine or process. Buttons are typically made out of hard material, usually plastic or metal. And pilot lights are occasionally used for an electrical indicator light that illuminates to show that electrical power is available, or that an electrical device is operating.
